Quality requirements for Purified Water (PW) according to Ph. Eur.

Purified Water (PW) is the more common term for pure water.

The quality of PW is described in pharmacopoeias, such as the European Pharmacopoeia (Ph. Eur.). This includes physical and chemical requirements, microbiological specifications, and requirements for production and storage.

PW (according to Ph. Eur.):

  • Conductivity (at 20°C): < 4.3 µS/cm
  • Microbial content: < 100 CFU/ml
  • TOC: < 0.5 mg/l
  • Endotoxin content: not specified
